We have heard from our agency partners about the need for greater availability of frozen protein. Unfortunately, we do not expect an increase in Meat and Poultry items through the government programs. To offset this, thanks to generous funding from the State of California's CalFood program and our own private fundraising, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank is committed to continuously offering frozen meat and poultry to agencies on Agency Express as part of the normal ordering cycles. The plan is to sustain this through April 2025, if not longer. We welcome feedback. If you are running into issues or not seeing frozen animal protein on Agency Express, please reach out to the Agency Relations department.
As we continue to develop this, we are sure to encounter some growing pains, but we wanted to communicate our plan so our agencies can plan accordingly.

It is essential to adhere to best practices and requirements by ensuring that all food items are provided to every food recipient, regardless of their housing status. This means that whether a person has stable or temporary housing or is experiencing homelessness, they should have access to the complete range of food items available. By doing so, your agency will be actively supporting food security for all, allowing them to prepare nutritious meals.

It is time to renew the TEFAP Civil Rights Training for 2026! The TEFAP Civil Rights Training will be due by March 31, 2026. All Agencies participating in the TEFAP program must submit the Civil Rights Training Documents directly to tefapcivilrights@lafoodbank.org by the deadline.
To ensure fairness and equality in the treatment and delivery of benefits for The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), all participating TEFAP agencies must ensure that all food items are provided to every food recipient, regardless of their housing status. Participants are not required to accept TEFAP products that they cannot utilize. Non-compliance will result in a Civil Rights violation, as it constitutes unequal treatment of the beneficiary’s rights.
